As a result, production reached the peak volume of 277K units. From 2017 to 2024, production growth failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck production dropped to $5.1B in 2024 estimated in export price. Overall, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 21%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $6B. From 2015 to 2024, production growth failed to regain momentum.

The Netherlands (130K units) remains the largest self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck producing country in the European Union, comprising approx. 52% of total volume. Moreover, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck production in the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Denmark (32K units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by France (31K units), with a 12% share.

From 2013 to 2024, the average annual growth rate of volume in the Netherlands was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Denmark (+44.7% per year) and France (+9.5% per year).

In 2024, approx. 373K units of self-propelled fork-lift trucks with non-electric motor were imported in the European Union; with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a notable expansion. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 405K units in 2022; however, from 2023 to 2024, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck imports expanded slightly to $4.7B in 2024. In general, imports showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2023 with an increase of 37%. The level of import peaked in 2024 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2024, Belgium (151K units) was the major importer of self-propelled fork-lift trucks with non-electric motor, creating 41% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Ireland (89K units), Spain (30K units) and France (19K units), together mixing up a 37% share of total imports. The Czech Republic (17K units), the Netherlands (14K units), Poland (11K units), Germany (8.1K units), Greece (6.9K units) and Italy (6.8K units) held a minor share of total imports.

In 2024, the import price in the European Union amounted to $13 thousand per unit, dropping by -36.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2023 when the import price increased by 144% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $20 thousand per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2024, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($46 thousand per unit), while Greece ($4 thousand per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, exports continue to indicate modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2024 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck exports reached $6.4B in 2024. Total exports indicated a strong increase from 2013 to 2024: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, exports increased by +86.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2023 when exports increased by 30%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2024 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

The Netherlands was the main exporter of self-propelled fork-lift trucks with non-electric motor in the European Union, with the volume of exports accounting for 134K units, which was near 50% of total exports in 2024. Denmark (31K units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by France (26K units), Italy (23K units) and Germany (13K units). All these countries together took near 35% share of total exports. Belgium (11K units), Spain (6.7K units) and Poland (4.5K units) took a minor share of total exports.

The Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of self-propelled fork-lift trucks with non-electric motor. At the same time, Denmark (+40.4%), Italy (+12.2%), Belgium (+5.1%) and France (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Denmark emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +40.4% from 2013-2024. By contrast, Spain (-3.6%), Germany (-6.0%) and Poland (-11.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Denmark (+11 p.p.), Italy (+5.8 p.p.) and France (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the Netherlands, Spain, Poland and Germany saw its share reduced by -1.6%, -1.8%, -5.3% and -6.2% from 2013 to 2024, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest self-propelled non-electric fork-lift truck supplying countries in the European Union were the Netherlands ($1.5B), Italy ($1.3B) and France ($1.3B), with a combined 64% share of total exports. Germany, Poland, Belgium, Spain and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 22%.

Among the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +23.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the European Union stood at $24 thousand per unit in 2024, which is down by -14.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a tangible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 75%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $34 thousand per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2024, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($67 thousand per unit), while Denmark ($2.7 thousand per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+39.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
