Mar 05, 2024

The Rhea County High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (RCHS JROTC) Raiders have completed their summer practice in preparation for their upcoming competition season that starts on Saturday, August 26, at Clarkrange High School in Clarkrange, Tenn.

The RCHS Raiders currently have 75 Raiders that comprise five different competition teams, two male teams, two co-ed teams and one female team. The RCHS JROTC Raiders compete against JROTC Raider Teams from other high schools in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana and Mississippi. Teams compete in physical fitness, one-line rope bridge, cross country rescue, strength test, obstacle course, tire stacker, and “The Gauntlet.”

The RCHS Raiders acknowledge and thank TVA, Volunteer Electric Company and Southeast Electric Company for the donation of telephone poles to improve the RCHS Obstacle Course; Wesley and Lynn Skiles who donated lumber for a walking bridge; and the community for the support they continue to show towards the Raiders as well as the entire RCHS JROTC program.
